Sew Loved QAL Week #2

Welcome to week 2 of the Sew Loved quilt along. It's time to make the heart blocks! If you are behind, don't worry! You can jump in at any time. Check out last week's post for cutting tips.

Sew Loved Week 2

TIPS:

  • For beginners: Be sure you have an accurate 1/4" seam allowance before getting started. The Inquiring Quilter has a great method for testing your seam allowance.

  • If your sewing machine does not have a laser light guide, it is important to mark the diagonal lines on your fabric A and C squares. Diagonal Seam Tape from Cluck Cluck Sew is also handy.

  • Chain piecing is a great time-saving method. Chain piecing is like an assembly line to streamline your sewing. You just keep sewing without cutting the threads, creating 1 long "chain" of pieces. Then you cut between them and move to the next step.

  • When connecting your heart halves, pay special attention to lining up the points first. Use pins or clips to keep them in place while you sew.

  • I like using Magic Quilting & Crafting Spray to keep my blocks smooth and flat.
